What We Offer

Birddog Training

Bring out the best in your birddog by enrolling in our birddog training progam or with one on one private appointments. Dogs of any level and experience are welcome! By training your birddog to hunt, you’ll allow them to experience what they were bred to do and fullfil thier natural drive and drive to work.

We primarily focus on upland hunting, waterfowl fundementals, and force retrieve training. Off leash obedience is a core part of the training.

Obedience Training

For any breed, the obedience program will build manners and basic commands every dog should know. We also offer one on one sessions so you can be apart of the training every step of the way.

Basic Boarding

Want your dog to board somewhere that understands working breeds and can give your dog a great experience? We offer basic boarding, with opportunity for you to add extra training, birdwork, and exercise to thier stay. Available for any breed.

“Jen is hands-down the best dog trainer I have ever worked with. After sending my German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) to a different trainer for a month of force fetch training, I received almost no updates, zero progress, and was ultimately told she simply couldn't be taught to retrieve.
That all changed when I found Jen. In just six one-hour sessions, Jen completely turned things around. When the initial training method didn't resonate, she didn't give up—she adapted, tried different approaches, and tailored her technique to my dog's specific learning style. Once the lightbulb finally went on for my GSP, Jen brilliantly transitioned from "stick to carrot," moving away from the e-collar and modifying the training so that the retrieve itself became the ultimate reward. Jen is patient, highly adaptable, and truly cares about the dogs she works with. If you want a trainer who focuses on the individual dog and is open to innovative techniques, I cannot recommend Jen highly enough!”

“The question is, “Is there such a thing as a dog whisperer?” Good question. We needed one. Our 1 1⁄2 year old pointing lab became gun shy and shut down. He refused to hunt or even move on his own when out in a field. It was horribly sad and most likely my fault. Then we rescued a 4-year-old red bone coon hound mix. What can you do with a hound dog when you are an upland game bird hunter? The two dogs quickly became best buddies. We searched high and low for a dog trainer who could possibly help. Finally, a decision to call Jennifer Goodwin was made. She called back that evening, we discussed the issues, and a date was set to meet and see what we, or more appropriately, she could do. After a few training sessions I watched our lab hunt today. If you were to ask, I would say Jennifer performed miracles each time she worked with our dogs. She figures out what each dog is up to and has the understanding and patience, lots of patience, to effectively help the dog. She quickly saw that our hound dog could be used for support and confidence to help get our lab excited about birds. She utilized the competition between the two dogs as an advantage to correct the lab’s behavior. As an example, I watched as she trained our hound dog to stay. When I tried, I couldn’t get more than a few feet away before he would break. Within a couple minutes she had him stay and was able to move 30 feet away and he still didn’t break until she told him to. Challenge downright conquered. Same thing with the kennel command and many other challenging steps in the process. You might think that Jennifer uses some special or harsh methods. Nope. Jennifer is just smart, very smart, understands what makes a dog tick, knows how to fix problems, and she is nice! So, the answer to the question is yes, I am sure there are many great dog whisperers out there and Jennifer Goodwin is most certainly one of the best. I did watch our lab hunt today.”

Want the best? Look no further. Jen is easily the best dog trainer in Colorado. Bar-none! My dog (GSP) had a bad habit of dropping the bird after a retrieve. She would go and get the bird, only to ultimately drop the bird within a 10 foot circle. This was all well and good, unless the bird was wounded. Then chaos would ensue, she is chasing the bird, I’m chasing the bird, CHAOS!! I went to other dog trainers to cure this ‘habit’. Not one of the two previous trainers were able to break this habit. Jen was the only trainer to solve the issue. She took her time, backtracked some of the previous training, and got to the root problem. Turns out my dog didn’t like to hold the Feathery Fowl. Who would have guessed? Jen that’s who. She was able to determine this and correct the behavior in one afternoon, in about 2 hours. Jen is unbelievably talented in her craft. She delivers unbeatable results by understanding dogs and their traits.”
